The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) is a United States proposed law introduced on November 30, 2011 by U.S. Representative Michael Rogers (R-MI) and 111 co-sponsors. It was passed in the House of Representatives on April 26, 2012. Prior to the amendments offered during final passage of the bill that would address many Adminstration concerns, President Obama threatened to veto the bill.
The bill would allow the voluntary sharing of attack and threat information between the U.S. government and security cleared technology and manufacturing companies in an attempt to ensure the security of networks against patterns of attack; the most recent version of the CISPA bill may remove any reference to intellectual property. Several commentators have distinguished CISPA from the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) bill.CISPA was reported out of committee on December 1, 2011. CISPA has been criticized by advocates of Internet privacy and civil liberties, such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the American Civil Liberties Union, and Avaaz.org, because they feel it contains too few limits on how and when the government may monitor private information when it might become collaterally entangled in the process of passing threat information, and too few safeguards with respect to how the data may be used; they fear that such new powers could be used to surveil the general public rather than to pursue the stated foreign spies or hackers.

Against CISPA:

Russia Today, a Russian state owned broadcast medium, was one of the first organizations to oppose CISPA, and was the first known source to use the phrase "Worse than SOPA".

Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web, expressed opposition to the bill stating, “It is threatening the rights of people in America, and effectively rights everywhere, because what happens in America tends to affect people all over the world. Even though the SOPA and PIPA acts were stopped by huge public outcry, it’s staggering how quickly the US government has come back with a new, different, threat to the rights of its citizens.”

U.S. Representative Ron Paul (R-TX) has publicly opposed the bill calling it "Big Brother writ large." Cenk Uygur, from Current TV, backed the Representative's opinion and did a piece where he highlights one of Mike Rogers' speech about the bill to the business community. He also summarized the bill to his audience.

36 groups currently oppose CISPA with an addition of 6 groups as of April 21st. The Electronic Frontier Foundation lists a growing list of opposition as well as a list of security experts, academics, and engineers in opposition of the bill. They also published the statement Don’t Let Congress Use "Cybersecurity" Fears to Erode Digital Rights.

Opposition to CISPA includes more than 762,000 online petitioners who have signed global civic organization Avaaz.org's petition to members of the US Congress entitled "Save the Internet from the US". Avaaz also has a petition to Facebook, Microsoft, and IBM entitled "The end of Internet privacy", signed by more than 730,000 people.

The Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT) published a statement titled "Cybersecurity's 7-Step Plan for Internet Freedom." The CDT openly opposes the Mike Rogers bill based on these 7-step criteria. The CDT has also openly supported a competing bill in the house sponsored by U.S. Representative Dan Lungren (R-CA) that has yet to be reported by the committee.

The Constitution Project (TCP) "believes cybersecurity legislation currently pending before Congress possess major risks to civil liberties that must be addressed before any bill is enacted into law."

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has also issued a statement opposing the bill stating, "The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act would create a cybersecurity exception to all privacy laws and allow companies to share the private and personal data they hold on their American customers with the government for cybersecurity purposes." As the statement continues, "Beyond the potential for massive data collection authorization, the bill would provide no meaningful oversight of, or accountability for, the use of these new information-sharing authorities."

The Sunlight Foundation states, "The new cybersecurity bill, CISPA, or HR 3523, is terrible on transparency. The bill proposes broad new information collection and sharing powers (which many other organizations are covering at length). Even as the bill proposes those powers, it proposes to limit public oversight of this work."

Demand Progress opposes CISPA, stating "The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, or CISPA, would obliterate any semblance of online privacy in the United States."

Competitive Enterprise Institute joins with TechFreedom, FreedomWorks, Americans For Limited Government, Liberty Coalition, Al Cardenas, and American Conservative Union to write a letter to Congress.[45] Competitive Enterprise Institute states, "Despite the bill's noble intentions, however, it risks unduly expanding federal power, undermining freedom of contract, and harming U.S. competitiveness in the technology sector." The Competitive Enterprise Institute lists 6 problems within the bill itself and how to fix those problems.

Reporters Without Borders states, "Reporters Without Borders is deeply concerned with the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011 (CISPA), the cyber security bill now before the US Congress. In the name of the war on cyber crime, it would allow the government and private companies to deploy draconian measures to monitor, even censor, the Web. It might even be used to close down sites that publish classified files or information."

testPAC opposes CISPA stating "CISPA would effectively take the door off the hinge of every household in America, but lacks the tools necessary to distinguish whether there is a criminal hiding in the attic. Why surrender the core of our privacy for the sake of corporate and governmental convenience?"

As of April 27, 2012, Microsoft no longer supports CISPA citing any law must allow "us to honor the privacy and security promises we make to our customers." And, as the statement continues, "We look forward to continuing to work with members of Congress, consumer groups, the civil liberties community and industry colleagues as the debate moves to the Senate to ensure the final legislation helps to tackle the real threat of cybercrime while protecting consumer privacy."

Machinarium is a puzzle point-and-click adventure game developed by Amanita Design. It was released on October 16, 2009 for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, on September 8, 2011 for iPad 2 on App Store (iOS) and on November 21, 2011 forBlackBerry PlayBook. Demos were made available on September 30, 2009. It was also being scheduled for a future release for the Nintendo Wii's WiiWare service, but as of November 2011, it has been cancelled due to WiiWare's 40MB limit. In March 2011, Amanita Design announced that Machinarium will be headed to PlayStation 3's PSN. Amanita Design are also preparing a port for Android.

Gameplay
The goal of Machinarium is to solve a series of puzzles and brain teasers. The puzzles are linked together by an overworld consisting of a traditional "point and click" adventure story. The overworld's most radical departure is that only objects within the player character's reach can be clicked on.

Machinarium is notable in that it contains nodialogue, spoken or written, and apart from a few tutorial prompts on the first screen, is devoid of understandable language entirely. The game instead uses a system of animated thought bubbles. Easter egg back story scenes in the same format can only be revealed by idling in certain areas.

The game employs a two-tier hint system. Once per level, the player can receive a hint, which becomes increasingly vague as the game progresses. Machinarium also comes with awalkthrough, that can be accessed at any time by playing a minigame. As with dialogue, the walkthrough is not in written or spoken form, but instead a series of sketches describing the puzzle at hand and its solution. However, the walkthrough only reveals what must be done in that area, and not how that puzzle relates to the game chronology.

Toy Soldiers is an action-strategy video game by Signal Studios released on Xbox Live Arcade on March 3, 2010. It will be featured in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview Store. It has been available since February 29, 2012, debuting alongside the Windows 8 Consumer Preview beta release.

Gameplay
Players control one of two armies of miniature toy soldiers on a World War I model diorama with wooden and plastic landscapes. The diorama is set in various locations, such as a child's bedroom, library and lounge, and objects such as dressers and reading lamps are at times visible in the background. The game features 50 different controllable units including machine guns, mortars and tanks, with the fixed emplacements being upgradable to more powerful versions.

Players can create and control numerous units from a strategic command perspective or one unit on the field from a third-person action perspective. They can also command fixed emplacements that they create such as howitzers, mortars and machine guns, or drive various vehicles such as tanks, biplanes and bombers. When the player takes control of a single unit, the other emplacements are automatically controlled by artificial intelligence. When shot, the toy soldiers explode into plastic chunks but do not display blood, in order to keep the game family-friendly.
A tower defense-style single-player campaign is available, which involves defending a base from British or German soldiers. The player receives money for destroying enemies, which can be used to equip greater defenses. The single-player game features British and German campaigns among 24 unique levels. Once a campaign is finished, the player unlocks Survival Mode, which involves fighting continuous streams of enemies to last as long as possible. There are four difficulty settings. Multiplayer is also available, and can be played online over Xbox LIVE or locally with two-player split-screen. In multiplayer games, the player must focus on waging offensives as well as defending the base. Scores are tracked and compared in Xbox LIVE leaderboards.

One of the perks of shopping in brick and mortar shops is that it allows users to touch and try out the device before purchasing it. Unfortunately for some of us, we don’t have the time to drive around and spend time handling gadgets and have no choice but to resort to online purchases and reviews for our answers. In order to prevent buyers remorse, a new website dubbed YBuy has been launched and it basically provides its customers with gadgets for them to try before making their decision to purchase it. As it is, customers are allowed to return products to retailers for an exchange or refund, but this usually involves paying full price for the product first.

Instead customers (or members) of the website will just need to pay a $50 registration fee and a monthly subscription fee of $25 and they can then try products out for a maximum duration of 30 days before making the decision as to whether they want to buy it. If you decide not to buy it, all you’d have to do is put the product back in its package and send it back. Unlike other online retailers such as Amazon where customers have a huge selection to choose from, YBuy will instead offer up a handful of products picked by its staff. At the moment it looks like membership to YBuy is invitation-only for now, but head on over and drop your email for an invitation request.

Risen 2: Dark Waters is a single-player fantasy-themed action role-playing game and the sequel to Risen by Piranha Bytes. It is published and distributed by Deep Silver.
The game was officially announced by Deep Silver on August 18, 2010, during a press conference a the GamesCom exhibition of Cologne. The official site was opened on February 19, 2011. It will be available for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. The PC version is directly developed by Piranha Bytes. As for Risen, the French firm Wizarbox is in charge of the console versions: Xbox 360 and for the first time, PlayStation 3.

 Gameplay
The player doesn't choose his character or his class. One gains experience points (XP) as rewards for fighting monsters and solving quests. When enough points have been accumulated, the hero levels up and earns learning points (LP). The player can spend these learning points with Trainers - special NPCs that are scattered around the game world - to increase his stats or acquire new skills. The player can use a wide range of weapons, including, for the first time, guns. Alternatively, the player can choose to play as a mage. Risen offers the player a semi-open world: each island is a separate area that requires loading; but once the area is loaded, one can move freely without hindrance or pause for loading new items. At the beginning of the game, not all islands are reachable, but they become so as the story unfolds.

Intel and Microsoft have been keeping close cooperation with first-tier vendors developing new tablet PCs based on Windows 8, with a goal of decreasing the global market share for iPad from 70% currently to below 50% by the middle of 2013, according to Taiwan-based ODMs.

Microsoft will release Windows 8 for x86 platforms in September and Windows RT, a version specifically for ARM architecture, later, the sources noted.

Based on current progress of development, there will be 32 Windows 8 tablet PCs launched by Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Asustek Computer and Toshiba by the end of 2012, the sources indicated. In particular, Lenovo and Acer plan to launch Windows 8 tablet PCs priced at US$300-1,000, with entry-level models to be sold at below US$300 for competition with Android tablet PCs and models offered by China-based white-box vendors, and models at over US$300 to challenge iPad, including the new iPad and a next-generation iPad, the sources claimed.

In Intel's opinion, Lenovo's strong status in educational and business-use tablet PCs in the China market is a key to driving the global market share for Windows 8 tablet PCs, the sources noted.

If you get sweaty over detailed solar system simulator apps, then Christopher Albeluhn's "The Solar System: Explore Your Backyard" is going to make your bladder explode.

Available on PC, "Explore Your Backyard" was created because Albeluhn was unemployed, having been laid off from work as a video game designer.

To spruce up his portfolio, Albeluhn started to toy with modeling Earth for a simple shader test. One thing led to another and the next thing Albeluhn knew, he had an entire solar system built with the Unreal engine:

Before i knew it, i had all 8 planets (I am SO sorry Pluto), the sun and the Asteroid belt. They all had correct rotations, orbits, locations and speeds; their moons, information regarding the planets and their facts. All of these were fine, but i wanted something more, so i added in the constellations, all 88 of them.
Albeluhn plans to add dwarf planets, satellites, NASA satellite path, and more detailed planetary models as well as make the app available on iOS and Android, but he needs a little help funding his project.

To show your support, toss Albeluhn a donation via his IndieGoGo (it's like Kickstarter). He's hoping to raise $8,000 and has $2,800 as of this writing.

Somebody get this guy a job. He's definitely got talent and passion for modeling space sims. "Explore Your Backyard"

Saints Row: The Third, also known as Saints Row 3, SRTT or SR3, is an action-adventure open world video game developed by Volition, Inc. and published by THQ. It was released on November 15, 2011 in Australia and North America, and was released on November 18, 2011 in Europe for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is the third title in the Saints Row series, after the release of Saints Row 2 in 2008. As in Saints Row 2, the player controls the leader of the Third Street Saints. The game world is the fictional city of Steelport, and the story focuses on the urban gang war between the Saints and the three gangs, the Morningstar, Deckers and Luchadores.

Mission structure
In previous Saints Row games, the player would be able to approach each of the three rival gangs along separate storylines that ultimately culminated into a final conclusion for each gang. In The Third, the storylines between the three gangs are interconnected, and are played sequentially. In addition, some missions allow the player to make decisions which affect the availability of weapons and ally characters that can be called to assist the player in combat.

ADAPTIVE WARFARE

As one of the most experienced and elite soldiers to have never “officially” existed you know what it takes to survive. It’s just you, the most advanced piece of military hardware humanity has ever devised, and your training against an entire city of enemies and hostile terrain. And only one rule: You adapt or you die. New York has become an untamed landscape. The tactics that you may have used to move from building to building won’t help you when half of uptown has been replaced by a swamp. You’ll have to assess your situation, adapt your strategies and equipment to suit, and attack using every advantage you’ve got. A wall of incoming enemy fire, an immovable two-ton obstacle in your path, a quarter mile of exposed terrain you need to cover in 15 seconds, or an entrenched enemy position to be infiltrated; Your suit will give you the tools you need to survive these situations, but only your experience will help you know which to choose. Between your training and your nanosuit you’ve got better-than-average odds of surviving, but that’s not saying much when the average odds are zero to none. At the end of the day your suit is just a tool – Using it correctly means the difference between being the predator or the prey.

BECOME THE HUNTER

There was a time that you had compatriots. You had team mates who you trusted with your life. It wasn’t so long ago that you were fighting for your country and the human race. Now you fight for the fallen. Now you get your revenge. In the wake of the alien invasion, New York lies covered by a giant nanodome, hidden from the rest of the world A secretive military faction has set up shop in the ruins of the city. What do they want? Who are they? What have they found? Uncover their true motives and bring them down from the inside out. But as bad as they might be, they might be the least of your worries. The extraterrestrial threat still looms large over New York. The last time humanity tangled with this enemy they caught us with our guard down, but this time we’re ready. Stalk the canyons of the abandoned, ruined city in relentless pursuit of your prey. This time we hunt them.

The FBI swooped on Higinio O Ochoa III after he posted the snap, which included a gloating message to his online victims. He took the picture on his iPhone and posted it on Twitter without realising it contained GPS data pointing directly to his house. Researching the username “w0rmer”, investigators also found a reference online which included Ochoa’s full name.

Ochoa, is an alleged member of CabinCr3w, an offshoot of the hacktivist collective Anonymous. A criminal complaint filed in connection with the case reveals that pictures of a amply proportioned young woman taken in an outer-Melbourne suburb played a key role in the case.

The snap posted by 30-year-old Ochoa shows a girl in a bikini top from the neck down, with a printed message pinned to her skirt reading: “PwNd by w0rmer & CabinCr3w” This GPS location allowed local police to easily track down the presumed residence of the woman pictured in the photo, believed to be Ochoa's Australian girlfriend, and others like it in a similar vein promoting Anonymous. One of these featured a picture of the same woman alongside a sign stating "Come me bro! @AnonwOrmer #Cabincr3w".

Full Stand-alone Expansion to Total War: SHOGUN 2 Concludes the Epic Saga of Samurai-era Japan!

It is 1863, and the age of the Samurai is coming to a close. The masters of sword, bow and horse face a period of massive change as a new Japan is born to the bellowing of cannon and the shriek of steam engines. The modern, Victorian world of Europe and America is battering at Japan’s gates, bringing revolutionary new weapons to the country: weapons which will sound the death-knell of the Samurai class. This new world can be shut out and tradition upheld, or it can be embraced and mastered. Into this upheaval, a new, Imperial movement rises up against the old Shoguns, attempting to restore the Emperor as rightful master of Japan. Will you back this rising Imperial power, or the Shogunate of old? Choose your path, and carry the country with you in the final battle for Japan’s future: the Boshin War, the War of the Year of the Dragon.
This massive-scale, stand-alone expansion to Total War: SHOGUN 2 offers a completely new experience to players. Six new playable clans, including those supporting a modern imperial Japan such as the Satsuma, and those allied with the old Shogun like the Nagaoka, are now available. Three great foreign powers must also be dealt with: America, Britain and France all have a vested interest in Japan’s future. How will you treat them? All this plays out across an expanded and improved campaign map, covering new island provinces in the far north and featuring all-new building and technology trees as well as brand new features such as railways and naval bombardments, seen for the first time in a Total War™ title.

As well as the upgrades to the campaign map, brand new units and abilities are also added to Total War: SHOGUN 2’s epic battles. On land, 39 new units are introduced including Gatling guns, US Marines and British Royal Marines. War at sea also changes, with ten new ship types including massive, artillery-bearing steamers, torpedo boats and mighty ironclad battleships, allowing you to call naval artillery strikes directly into land battles. Coastal batteries can also attack your shipping, so watch out for well-defended ports!

With three new agent types on the campaign map to choose from, four new historical scenarios, brand new siege-battle mechanics and a huge upgrade to Total War: SHOGUN 2’s multiplayer game, the list of additions is as epic as the conflict in Total War: Shogun 2 – The Fall of the Samurai.

Fight one last time for Japan’s future, as the age of the Samurai comes face to face with the explosive power of modern weaponry. The fate of all Japan is in your hands.
